We All Need a Wing-person Sometimes
In my twenties, I was possibly the worst wing-person my friends could have if they were looking to meet someone on a night out.
I was more likely to hide in the bathroom than help a friend make an introduction to someone.
The good news is that most of my friends don't need that anymore, at least when it comes to dating.
But for other things?
Turns out I love having a good wing person.
For instance, I'm writing this email as part of a co-working session I'm doing with my colleague Erin, an online trainer who lives in South Carolina.
She's a Bills' fan, a dog person, and really good at Improv...
Every Tuesday morning, from 10:00-12:00, we hang out on zoom and do work.
If you've been on this list for any length of time, you know that I haven't always been consistent with sending emails out every week. Sometimes it's every two weeks, sometimes it's once a month, sometimes you're like, hmmm... Kim Lloyd - I've heard of her....she used to have an email list...
But since Erin has been my wing buddy, I've sent out almost an email a week. Boom. And I need the support because my favorite thing to do besides cheering for the worst team in baseball is procrastinate.
Do you know why we do it?
Because we get a little hit of dopamine (ok, I do at least) the minute I decide to put something off. Unfortunately, that hit of dopamine doesn't outweigh the wave of anxiety that comes when I'm suddenly cramming in whatever task I've been putting off until the last minute.
And if I don't have a deadline? Well...
While I describe myself as a fitness coach, I'm really an accountability partner for my clients.
Are you thinking about calling up texting a friend to walk with you? Go to the gym with you? Hang out on FaceTime or Zoom while you do a quick workout?
Stop thinking about it. Do it.
And if you need some help, let me know ๐
